Fantastic lure.

Love the RR 800’s. One of my go to baits for spring and summer walleye trolling. Once you get them tuned there a walleye catching machine.

great colors..run good when you get them tuned in

These 800 series lures have a great color selection,and great action for deep walleyes. The only problem with these lures is the soft ring built in the lip,they have to be tuned right out of the package,and constantly checked, especially after catching a fish. They have a tendency to walk left or right ,causing tangles in your spread. Reef runner sells a tuning tool for their lures!! They should just give you one!! Or fix the problem.

Reef runners

We used several different colors of reef runnners last week on lake erie. We caught limits every day out. The walleye loved the copperhead and purple colors. They work best away from the boat on planer boards. Most run true out of the box, but be sure to check. Good fishing to all !

Yes, these usually need tuned right out of the box but don’t let that dissuade you from buying (all lures should be checked right out of the box anyway). When you buy these also get the little tuning tool made for the reef runners, it comes on a lanyard so you can keep it around your neck. Simply put the lure over the side of the boat and make sure it’s tracking straight and not right or left; if not, adjust with the tool. You can see and feel that this lure wants to dive deep when in proper adjustment. FishUSA could do with updating their colors as Reef Runner has come out with new ones that this site doesn’t offer.

Trolling Lake Erie Walleyes

The people @ RR NEED to get the issue of these poorly built lures figured out. It is inexcusable that a brand new, out of the box, lure performs as bad as the 800 series does. I no longer own a single 800 series RR. I gave them all away to a good friend. If you are looking for an alternative, try pulling Bandits, mad flash Thundersticks (purple ghost UV) and Live Targets. In July of 2015 we were boxing four man limits, by lunch time, on a daily basis for two weeks straight using these lures. Please don’t take me as a hater of RR’s. Sometimes the truth just plain old hurts. If they can develop a good out of the box 800 series that swims true I would be the first one in line to buy them.

Walleye lure

Run these 5 colors back on lead core line and get ready to catch some fish. Check them before setting the rods to make sure lure is probably running correctly, only takes a few seconds. RR has a tool or use some pliers.

King Cryptonite

Glow blue wonderbread, zebra, green giant patterns are FIRE on kings in SE Lake Michigan during run! Swap out o rings and hooks for better ones cause they dont hold up. And ive had the tail end of hardbait start to split in middle, but hasnt broken yet.
