Donkey Kong Country — культовый платформер середины 90-х, известный практически каждому обладателю приставки «Super Nintento». В роли знаменитого Донки Конга и его очаровательного племянника Дидди, игроку предстоит отправиться в долгое и захватывающее путешествие, чтобы вернуть бананы, похищенные коварным (если не сказать — безумным) королем по имени K. Rool. Приготовьтесь детально исследовать остров в поисках бесценной пропажи, сражайтесь против многочисленных прихвостней злобного короля, собирайте бананы и не забывайте прибегать к помощи верных друзей, каждый из которых обладает собственным списком уникальных способностей.

Итак, что же на самом деле представляет из себя «Donkey Kong Country» и почему игра обрела столь культовый статус среди обладателей SNES? Причин тому две — графика и поистине завидное разнообразие геймплея. Если первым пунктом сегодня уже никого не удивишь (как ни крути, но игре уже больше 20 лет), то на втором достоинстве — стоит остановиться несколько подробнее. Во первых, несмотря на принадлежность игры к жанру «Platformer» — одними лишь прыжками и уничтожением противников, дело, разумеется, не ограничиться! В процессе прохождения, игроку предстоит также заниматься подводным плаваньем, ездой на тележке по тёмным пещерам, поиском всевозможных секретов (как и во многих других популярных платформерах, количество и разнообразие последних — перешло все допустимые пределы), собирать буквы и золотые фигурки (открывают доступ к бонусным этапам) и даже решать простенькие головоломки. Во вторых, практическая каждая игровая локация — не имеет ничего общего с предыдущей. Общий дизайн уровней, равно как и отменная работа художников, не позволят заскучать даже в густых и однообразных (на первый взгляд) джунглях. И наконец, в третьих — внушительное количество геймплейных нововведений, среди которых возможность переключения между Донки Конгом и малышом Диди, огромное количество зверей,помощников, позволяющих пройти уровень несколько другим путём, либо получить доступ к очередной секретной мини-игре, а также десяток способов обезвредить противников.

В целом стоит сказать, что «Donkey Kong Country» вполне заслуженно считается одним из лучших платформеров своей эпохи. Красивый, разнообразный, «нашпигованный» тоннами секретов и мини-игр, в меру сложный, а самое главное — чертовски затягивающий! Donkey Kong hangs from vines at the center of the screen, and the player-controlled Stanley the exterminator runs and jumps on platforms beneath him. Stanley can shot the donkey Kong and the insects by his gun. Stanley shot on the Donkey Kong, forcing him to the top of the screen and the lever is completed.

The insects are Buzzbees, Beespies, queen bees (which shatter into deadly pieces when destroyed), Creepy Caterpillars, butterflies, beetles, moths, Beebombs and vine eaters. Some of the flying insects attempt to pick up the flowers at the bottom of the screen and carry them away. Lost flowers decrease the bonus at the end of the round.

There are three levels which repeat in a fixed sequence.
